Statement to Public Opinion

The Democratic Autonomous Administration of the North and East Syria Region strongly condemns the brutal and criminal attack that targeted the Ali ibn Abi Talib Mosque in the Wadi al-Dhahab neighborhood of Homs Governorate, which resulted in the martyrdom and injury of dozens of innocent civilians. This crime constitutes a grave assault on human and moral values and directly threatens the security and safety of society.
This heinous act comes within the context of a dangerous climate fueled by hate speech and incitement, pushing communities toward internal conflict instead of solidarity, and turning places of worship into arenas of violence in an attempt to undermine social peace and sow fear and division among the Syrian people. Such crimes do not arise in a vacuum; rather, they are perpetrated by destructive forces that invest in chaos and division, seeking to spill Syrian blood, fragment society, and tear apart its social fabric.
In light of the ongoing Syrian crisis and the escalating violence and repeated targeting of civilians, we affirm that Syria today is in urgent need of an inclusive national project, embodied in building a democratic, decentralized Syria based on the principles of justice and equal citizenship, guaranteeing the rights of all religious and ethnic components without exclusion or discrimination. The absence of such a democratic national project opens the door to extremism and incitement, whereas adopting it remains the only way to block those who seek to undermine the country’s security and shed Syrian blood.
We stress that our national and humanitarian responsibility requires de-escalating rhetoric, protecting civilians and places of worship, and holding perpetrators and inciters accountable without exception. Syria cannot be built on hatred and violence, but on trust and safety, and through fostering a culture of coexistence and mutual respect among all its people.
In conclusion, we extend our deepest condolences to the families of the martyrs, wish a speedy recovery to the wounded, and reaffirm our full solidarity with the people of Homs and with all innocent civilians throughout Syria.
