Statement to the Public Opinion

The Democratic Autonomous Administration of the North and East Syria region follows with great concern and condemnation the ongoing severe violations amounting to war crimes, committed by the factions affiliated with the Transitional Syrian Government in Damascus. Many evidences have shown that some of these factions are composed of former ISIS members, perpetrating these crimes against our civilian population in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh neighborhoods of Aleppo. These actions represent a clear and flagrant breach of previous agreements, which included guarantees for the protection of the safety and security of civilians, whether those who were forced to flee the neighborhoods or those who remained in their homes.
Despite these agreements, violations and war crimes continue systematically, with recorded instances of arbitrary arrests, insults, humiliation, and degradation of civilians. These practices contradict basic human values and constitute a gross violation of international laws, conventions, and norms that ensure the protection of civilians during conflicts.
In light of our moral and national responsibility, we call upon the international community, the United Nations, and human rights and humanitarian organizations to form an independent international committee to investigate all violations and crimes committed against civilians in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyeh neighborhoods, and to hold the perpetrators accountable. Ignoring or concealing these crimes will place the entire international community under serious scrutiny regarding its commitment to the principles of justice and human rights.
In conclusion, we extend our deepest condolences and eternal peace to the souls of the martyrs who fell as a result of these violations, and wish a speedy recovery to the wounded. We reaffirm our unwavering support for our people and our continuous defense of their dignity and legitimate rights by all legitimate means.
