Statement to the Public Opinion

The Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria expresses its deep concern and strong condemnation of the unjustified escalation being carried out by the factions affiliated with the Transitional Syrian Government in Damascus. This approach carries serious risks that threaten the remaining chances for stability and peace in the country.

The Syrian people have suffered, for over fifteen years, from the ravages of war, destruction, killing, and displacement. They have paid a heavy price due to the policies of tyranny and violence adopted by the former regime. Syrians, of all their components, are still today looking forward to closing the chapter of war and living with dignity and security, and to building a future of stability and civil peace.

The initiation of new wars or the resorting to unjustified military escalation would undermine any serious political process, strike the foundations of civil peace, and deepen the division and fragmentation among the Syrian people. This comes at a time when we are in dire need of coming together to face common challenges.

The Democratic Autonomous Administration affirms, as it has repeatedly stated before, that the language of dialogue and responsible discussion to resolve pending issues should prevail among all Syrian forces, away from the language of threats, war, and weapons. Such an approach will only lead to more bloodshed and destruction, and neither the country nor the Syrian people will emerge victorious. Both will pay the price, which is in complete contradiction to the hopes and aspirations of the Syrian people.

In this context, the Democratic Autonomous Administration calls on all Syrian forces and actors to unite in rejecting the discourse of hatred and incitement, to strengthen the brotherhood of peoples, the values of peaceful coexistence, and to work together for a decentralized Syria that guarantees the rights of all its citizens without exception.

The Democratic Autonomous Administration also calls on the Transitional Syrian Government to act with wisdom and responsibility in its decisions, to favor negotiations and political solutions over the language of war and weapons, as this serves the supreme interest of the Syrian people and the unity of the country. The Administration affirms that it remains ready to return to discussing all issues through dialogue and understanding, in order to spare Syrian bloodshed and thwart the “divide and rule” schemes that aim to incite conflict among Syrians.

Recently, some intelligence-linked channels and websites have been spreading false information about us and our relations with various countries, especially Iran. We affirm that we have a clear and consistent political stance, which is to prioritize the will of the peoples, women, and their rights in dealing with all governments. Our position regarding the events in Iran is very clear: we oppose the regime that daily executes women, young Kurds, Arabs, Baluchs, and Persians. We believe that a democratic system, which recognizes the rights of all components, is the only option to save the Iranian people.

In conclusion, the Democratic Autonomous Administration calls on the international community and active countries involved in the Syrian issue to take clear positions and practical steps to prevent the initiation of any new war in Syria, and to support political paths that ensure the end of the suffering of the Syrian people and the achievement of lasting peace.
