About

The Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria is a governance model established in 2018 with the aim of organizing the region’s affairs based on the principles of participatory democracy, social justice, and equality among all ethnic and religious communities. The Administration serves as a political and administrative framework that brings together local councils, civil bodies, and service institutions to meet the needs of society and ensure its direct participation in decision-making.

Our Vision for the Future of Syria
We believe that Syria’s future must be built on a decentralized democratic system that guarantees the rights and freedoms of all Syrians without discrimination, and that recognizes ethnic, cultural, and religious diversity as a source of richness for Syrian society. We strive for a unified, pluralistic Syria founded on the rule of law, and grounded in the principles of justice and equality between women and men.

Our History
The Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria was established in 2018 as the outcome of joint efforts among the region’s diverse communities, following years of grassroots self-organization at the local level. Since its inception, it has worked to build civil and service institutions, and to develop a participatory governance model that reflects the will of the region’s peoples and strengthens coexistence and civil peace.
