Statement to Public Opinion
- 06-01-2026
The Democratic Autonomous-Administration of North and East Syria expresses its deep concern and strong condemnation of the siege imposed on the neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh in the city of Aleppo, and the continued grave violations against the civilian residents. This includes attacks that have led to the martyrdom and injury of several civilians from these neighborhoods, in a flagrant violation of all international laws and humanitarian norms, directly affecting their security, dignity, and right to live in safety.
These irresponsible practices only contribute to further fragmentation of the Syrian national forces, clearly revealing the lack of seriousness on the part of the Syrian government in its declared efforts to unite the Syrian people and build a democratic state where all citizens are equal in rights and duties, without discrimination or exclusion.
We also affirm that the continuation of the siege and violations, alongside the escalation and unjustified, illegal violence, obstruct any real efforts to resolve the disputes and outstanding issues among Syrians. It constitutes a major factor in hindering the achievement of comprehensive and sustainable political solutions to the Syrian crisis and fuels instability and division.
The Autonomous-Administration warns that the continuation of this escalatory approach will have dire consequences that will affect all of Syria, as it carries the risks of expanding violence and deepening the rift between the components of Syrian society.
Furthermore, the Autonomous-Administration warns of the dangers of continuing to promote hate speech and discrimination, as it has devastating effects on the social fabric of Syria. It affirms that such policies and practices only serve divisionist agendas, which we entirely reject, considering them a threat to Syria’s unity, both land and people.
Since the first moments of the Syrian crisis, the Democratic Autonomous-Administration has emphasized that Syria represents a mosaic of the Middle East, encompassing various ethnicities, religions, sects, and cultures. Any real solution in Syria can only be a consensual solution, involving all Syrians from all components without exclusion or marginalization. Excluding any component weakens Syrian national unity and undermines the foundations of stability and peace.
In this context, the Democratic Autonomous-Administration reiterates its call for an immediate end to the siege, attacks, and violations, for accountability of those responsible, and for a return to dialogue and mutual understanding. It advocates for democratic political solutions that guarantee the rights of all Syrians and pave the way for the construction of a democratic, decentralized Syria based on justice, equality, and coexistence.
