Statement to the Public Opinion
- 26-11-2025
Syria is currently experiencing a new wave of tensions, particularly in the Syrian coast, where civilians are being directly targeted. This threatens to plunge the region into a new spiral of violence, further burdening a people who have not yet healed from the wounds of a long-lasting war. Additionally, attacks have resumed on certain areas in the Suwayda Governorate.
This escalation, with direct attacks on peaceful Syrian protesters demanding their legitimate rights and a dignified life based on freedom and justice, constitutes a direct threat to civil peace. These acts target a people known for their national stances and commitment to peaceful struggle. The involvement of certain armed factions and groups, operating under various names such as “Tribal Uprising” or “Tribal Forces” and supported by parties seeking to disrupt the unity and solidarity between Syrians of all sects and communities, is part of a systematic practice that is far removed from the Syrian people’s culture.
We, the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, affirm our support for the aspirations of the Syrian people wherever they may be and their right to peaceful protests demanding democracy, justice, and equality. We emphasize the necessity of unifying efforts and strengthening solidarity among all Syrians to make political and peaceful dialogue the only means for resolving disputes and safely overcoming the current phase.
We call on the interim government in Damascus to respect the will of the people in the coastal, southern, and other regions, and to fully refrain from using violence and weapons against peaceful demonstrators. The escalation witnessed in Homs, the coast, Suwayda, and other Syrian areas will have dangerous consequences for the country’s future and the new phase that Syrians are attempting to build toward a democratic, decentralized Syria, putting an end to chauvinism and dictatorship.
We also affirm that the attacks on civilians and peaceful demonstrators in the Homs and coastal regions, as well as in Suwayda, represent a blatant violation of human and national values. They serve only those who seek to drag the country toward chaos.
Today, we need a genuine and constructive national dialogue, based on respecting the will of the people and their right to freedom of expression. This dialogue should aim to build a pluralistic, democratic Syria for all of its citizens, without exception.
We also call for an end to voices that fuel sedition and increase tensions, claiming to support the government while contributing to the division of Syrians and escalating the political climate, especially through spreading hate speech via media outlets and social networks.
In conclusion, we reaffirm that our choice has always been and will continue to be: peace, dialogue, unity of Syrians, and the building of a new, decentralized, democratic Syria.
